Brillocchy è il mio archivio di gioielli: tutti pezzi unici e vintage, in Oro (principalmente giallo) e con pietre preziose che ho ritrovato personalmente in anni di ricerca nei mercatini delle pulci, dell’antiquariato e del riuso. L’idea alla base di questo progetto è che questa sorta di catalogazione rimanga visibile anche una volta che i Brillocchy vengano venduti in modo che resti visibile la loro “storia” e il filo conduttore che unisce questi oggetti per me preziosissimi.
Il nome di questo progetto deriva dal termine Brillocco che è un modo retró per definire l’anello di fidanzamento nel gergo popolare di alcune regioni italiane.
Breloque Breloque ‘brëlok’ s. f. fr. Ciondolo da tenere appeso a un nastro o a una catena d’oro nella moda maschile dei secoli diciassettesimo e diciottesimo. Talora italianizzato in brelòcche o brèlocco o brilòcche.
Quando penso al progetto Brillocchy mi torna alla mente mia nonna paterna, la sua collana di lapislazzuli, gli orecchini d’oro e gli anelli spesso appariscenti e mai banali. Alcuni le erano stati tramandati da generazioni, altri erano regali che lei stessa si era potuta concedere grazie al suo lavoro e che quindi indossava con orgoglio e cura come si fa con le cose preziose. I suoi gioielli per me erano come un incanto, racchiudevano storie che io non conoscevo ma che potevo immaginare: a chi erano appartenuti? Per quale anniversario erano stati regalati? Chi li aveva indossati e in quali occasioni? Quanti anni avevano attraversato per arrivare fino a lì? È ancora questa fascinazione che ricerco ed è questo incanto, che a volte se sono fortunata, ritrovo nella mia costante ricerca di gioielli che vanno ad arricchire un archivio di oggetti, non più solo personale e che incarnano storie preziose e uniche.
Brillocchy is my jewelry archive: all unique and vintage pieces, in Gold (mainly yellow) and with precious stones that I have personally found in years of research in flea markets, antiques and reuse. The name of this project comes from the term Brillocco, which is a retro way of defining an engagement ring in the popular slang of some Italian regions. Breloque Breloque 'brëlok' s. f. fr. A pendant to be held from a gold ribbon or chain in men's fashion of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Sometimes italianized to brelòcche or brèlocco or brilòcche.
When I think about the Brillocchy project, I am immediately reminded of my paternal grandmother, with her lapis lazuli necklace, gold earrings and rings that were often striking and never ordinary. Some of them had been handed down through generations, others were gifts that she had been able to give herself thanks to her work, and thus wore with pride and care as one does with precious things. Her jewels were like an enchantment to me, containing stories that I did not know but that I could imagine: who did they belong to? On which anniversary had they been donated? Who had worn them and for which occasions? How many years had they gone through to get to that point in time? This fascination is what I still seek, and sometimes, if I am lucky, I find this enchantment in my constant search for jewellery that enriches an archive of objects that are no longer just personal, and that bear precious and unique stories.
